The issue

Issue: On certain motorcycles, the second gear in the transmission could break. If this happens, the transmission could jam and cause a sudden lock up of the rear wheel. Safety Risk: A rear wheel that locks suddenly could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Yamaha will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the transmission assembly with one that has an updated design and reprogram the electronic control unit (ECU).

Problème : Sur certaines motos, la deuxième vitesse de la transmission pourrait faillir. Si cela se produisait, la transmission pourrait se gripper et bloquer soudainement la roue arrière. Risques pour la sécurité : Une roue arrière qui se bloque soudainement pourrait causer une perte de contrôle et augmenter les risques de collision. Mesures correctives : Yamaha doit aviser les propriétaires par la poste et leur demander d'amener leur moto chez un concessionnaire pour faire remplacer la transmission par une transmission de conception nouvelle, et faire reprogrammer l'unité de contrôle électronique (UCE).
