The issue

Issue: On certain trucks, the wiring in the steering wheel clockspring could become damaged. If this happens, the airbag could disconnect. This would cause the airbag warning lamp to turn on, and the driver-front airbag would not inflate in a crash. The problem may also cause the horn or other steering wheel-mounted controls not to work properly. Safety Risk: An airbag that does not work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealership to replace the steering wheel clockspring.

Problème : Sur certaines camionnettes, le câblage dans le contacteur annulaire du volant pourrait s'endommager. Si cela se produisait, le coussin gonflable pourrait se déconnecter. Cela allumerait le voyant d'avertissement de coussin gonflable, et le coussin gonflable frontal du conducteur ne se gonflerait pas en cas d'accident. Le problème pourrait également empêcher le klaxon ou d'autres commandes montées sur le volant de fonctionner correctement. Risques pour la sécurité : Un coussin gonflable qui ne fonctionne pas correctement pourrait augmenter le risque de blessures en cas de collision. Mesures correctives : Ford doit aviser les propriétaires par la poste et leur demander d'amener leur camionnette chez un concessionnaire pour faire remplacer le contacteur annulaire du volant.
