The issue

Issue: On a small number of trucks, the steering gear may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the steering gear could break and there could be a sudden increase in steering effort. Safety Risk: A sudden increase in steering effort could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect the serial number on the steering gear and, if necessary, replace it.

Problème : Sur un petit nombre de camions, le boîtier de direction pourrait avoir été mal fabriqué. Par conséquent, le boîtier de direction pourrait se briser et l'effort à exercer sur le volant pourrait augmenter de façon soudaine. Risques pour la sécurité : Une augmentation soudaine de l'effort à exercer sur le volant pourrait augmenter le risque d'accident. Mesures correctives : Navistar doit aviser les propriétaires par la poste et leur demander d'amener leur camion chez un concessionnaire pour faire inspecter le numéro de série du boîtier de direction, et le remplacer au besoin.
