Het defect
De EGR-leiding is mogelijk onjuist gefabriceerd. Hierdoor kan de EGR-leiding scheuren waardoor hete uitlaatgassen in het motorcompartiment vrij kunnen komen.
De gevolgen
Omliggende componenten kunnen door hete uitlaatgassen verhit raken. Hierdoor kan brand ontstaan.
Het herstel
De producent roept de betreffende voertuigen terug. Maatregelen worden genomen om het defect te verhelpen. De voertuigeigenaar wordt uitgenodigd een afspraak te maken met een merkdealer. De dealer zal de EGR-leiding controleren en indien nodig vervangen.
