The issue

On certain vehicles, the steering gear may have been manufactured incorrectly. A steering gear with this condition may produce the feeling of hitting a curb and a cracking or pinging sound when the steering wheel is turned. The steering wheel position may be off-centre and increased effort may be required when turning, which could result in a vehicle crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the steering gear.

Sur certains véhicules, le boîtier de direction pourrait avoir été fabriqué de façon incorrecte. Un tel boîtier de direction pourrait produire la sensation de frapper un trottoir, ainsi qu'un son de fissurage ou de cognement lorsqu'on tourne le volant. La position du volant pourrait être décentrée; de plus, il pourrait être plus difficile de tourner le volant, ce qui pourrait causer un accident. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter et, le cas échéant, remplacer le boîtier de direction.
