The issue

On certain trucks, the heater/defroster duct may have been installed incorrectly during vehicle assembly. Resulting chaffing damage may expose the ducting's steel spiral reinforcement. Should the reinforcement be contacted with an electrical power connector such as the power stud on the firewall, it may cause an electrical short, possibly resulting in a vehicle fire causing personal injury and/or vehicle and property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace with non-metallic ducting.

Sur certains camions, la canalisation chaufferette/dégivreur pourrait avoir été mal posée pendant le montage du véhicule. L'usure par frottement qui en résulte pourrait exposer le renfort en spirale fait d'acier de la canalisation. Si un raccord d'alimentation en électricité comme le goujon d'alimentation de la cloison pare feu entrait en contact avec le renfort, un court circuit pourrait s'ensuivre, ce qui produirait possiblement un incendie qui blesserait quelqu'un ou endommagerait des biens matériels. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter et, le cas échéant, remplacer la canalisation par une canalisation non métallique.
