The issue

On certain vehicles the hood release cable assembly may have been installed incorrectly, preventing the latching claw from fully engaging. This could cause the secondary latch to remain in the open position and allow the hood to open suddenly while driving if the primary hood latch was not engaged properly or accidentally released. This could compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will adjust the angle of the hood release mechanism to provide additional length to the release cable.

Sur certains véhicules, le câble de déverrouillage du capot pourrait avoir été mal posé, ce qui empêcherait la griffe de verrouillage de s'enclencher au maximum. Cela pourrait faire en sorte que le loquet secondaire demeure en position ouverte et permette au capot de s'ouvrir soudainement pendant que le véhicule roule si le loquet principal du capot n'était pas enclenché adéquatement ou était relâché accidentellement. Cela pourrait empêcher le conducteur de voir la route et ses usagers, et endommager le pare­brise, ce qui pourrait causer un accident blessant quelqu'un ou endommageant des biens matériels. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront régler l'angle du mécanisme de déverrouillage du capot pour augmenter la longueur du câble de déverrouillage.
