The issue

On certain vehicles, the pinch bolt of the upper steering shaft may not have been tightened to the proper specification. This could lead to a loss of the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and front axle wheels, resulting in a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will inspect and ensure proper torque of the upper steering shaft pinch bolt. Note: In the interim, owners are advised to stop driving their vehicles until they have been inspected.

Sur certains véhicules, le boulon de serrage de l'arbre de direction supérieur pourrait ne pas avoir été serré conformément aux spécifications. Cela pourrait causer une perte de liaison mécanique entre le volant et les roues de l'essieu avant, entraînant une perte de contrôle de la direction qui ferait augmenter les risques d'accident pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Mesure corrective : Les installations d'entretien autorisées Daimler Trucks North America devront inspecter le boulon de serrage de l'arbre de direction supérieur et s'assurer qu'il est serré au couple approprié.
