The issue

On certain vehicles, water could enter and cause corrosion to the wiring connectors in the rear liftgate wiring harness and the liftgate-opening switches. This could cause an unintended activation and opening of the rear liftgate door, potentially resulting in a loss of unrestrained cargo. Lost cargo may create a hazard for other road users, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will install additional sealing protection to the rear liftgage wiring connectors and switches to prevent water intrusion.

Sur certains véhicules, de l'eau pourrait s'infiltrer jusqu'aux connecteurs du faisceau de câblage du hayon élévateur arrière et jusqu'aux interrupteurs d'ouverture du hayon élévateur et provoquer de la corrosion. Le cas échéant, la porte du hayon élévateur arrière pourrait s'ouvrir inopinément et les marchandises non arrimées pourraient tomber sur la route et créer un danger pour les autres usagers de la route, ce qui pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Mesure corrective : Les concessionnaires devront ajouter des matériaux d'étanchéité sur les connecteurs et les interrupteurs du hayon élévateur arrière pour empêcher l'infiltration d'eau.
