The issue

On certain motorhomes, the frame rail extensions may not adequately support the trailer hitch mounting flange. Under certain loading or heavy braking conditions, the trailer hitch could detach, which would result in the separation of a towed vehicle or trailer, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, add a steel insert to increase the strength of the frame rail and strengthen the attachment of the hitch. Note: This recall supersedes recall 2017-166. Vehicles repaired under the previous recall will require re-inspection and possible additional repair.

Sur certaines autocaravanes, les rallonges de longeron de cadre de châssis pourraient ne pas soutenir adéquatement la bride-support de l'attelage de la remorque. Dans certaines conditions de chargement ou de freinage intense, l'attelage de la remorque pourrait se détacher, ce qui causerait le détachement d'une remorque ou d'un véhicule remorqué, ce qui augmenterait les risques d'un accident blessant quelqu'un ou endommageant des biens matériels. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront effectuer une inspection et, au besoin, ajouter un dispositif d'insertion en acier pour augmenter la résistance du longeron de cadre de châssis et renforcer la fixation de l'attelage. Note : Le présent rappel remplace le rappel 2017-166. Les véhicules réparés dans le cadre du précédent rappel devront être inspectés de nouveau et peut-être subir d'autres réparations.
