The issue

Certain vehicles may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 121 - Air Brake Systems and CMVSS 136 - Electronic Stability Control Systems for Heavy Vehicles. When the ignition is cycled off and then on within a few seconds, the Instrument Control Unit (ICU) may not perform the indicator lamp check as required by the standards. This could potentially confuse an inspector who may believe that the ABS or ESC is not functioning correctly should the ignition be cycled too quickly from on-to-off-to-on during a vehicle inspection. Correction: Daimler Trucks of North America Service Facilities will reprogram the ICU. For vehicles with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, the Electronic Control Unit will also be replaced.

Certains véhicules pourraient ne pas être conformes aux exigences de la NSVAC 121 - Systèmes de freinage à air comprimé et de la NSVAC 136 - Systèmes de contrôle électronique de la stabilité pour les véhicules lourds. Lorsque le commutateur d'allumage est placé en position OFF puis ON en moins de quelques secondes, l’unité de contrôle de l’instrument (ICU) pourrait ne pas effectuer l'essai de vérification du voyant tel qu'exigé par les normes. Si c'était le cas, l'inspecteur pourrait croire que l'ABS ou l'ESC ne fonctionnent pas correctement lorsqu'il déplace le commutateur d'allumage en position ON et OFF rapidement lors de son inspection. Mesures correctives : Les installations de service de Daimler Trucks of North America doivent reprogrammer l'ICU. Pour les véhicules équipés d'un système de surveillance de la pression des pneus, l'unité de commande électronique sera également remplacée.
