The issue
Certain vehicles equipped with a snowplow preparation kit may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The snowplow headlamps can be turned on without other exterior lights, and the high beam indicator does not work when the snowplow high beams are turned on, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could allow the vehicle to be operated with the snowplow headlamps on and marker and tail lamps off, making the vehicle harder to see and potentially increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update vehicle software to correct the non-compliance.

Certains véhicules munis d'une trousse de préparation de chasse-neige pourraient ne pas se conformer aux exigences de la norme de sécurité des véhicules automobiles du Canada (NSVAC) 108 - Système d'éclairage et dispositifs rétroréfléchissants. Les phares du chasse-neige peuvent être allumés sans autre lumière extérieure, et l'indicateur de faisceaux de route ne fonctionne pas lorsque les faisceaux de route du chasse-neige sont allumés, ce qui est contraire aux exigences de la norme. Cela pourrait permettre au véhicule d'être utilisé avec les phares du chasse-neige allumés et les feux arrière et les feux de gabarit éteints, ce qui rendrait le véhicule plus difficile à voir et pourrait augmenter les risques d'un accident blessant quelqu'un ou endommageant des biens matériels.
