The issue

On certain vehicles, the low fuel warning light may not turn on at the correct time to warn of a low fuel level. The driving range indicator in the multi-information display may also indicate a remaining distance-to-empty when the fuel tank is empty. While the low fuel warning light will eventually turn on and the fuel gauge will eventually display “E” (empty), if the driver continues to operate the vehicle based on the range indicator, the vehicle may run out of fuel, causing the engine to stall and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the combination meter (gauge cluster) software. Note: Until the recall repair is completed, drivers should ensure to refill the fuel tank before the fuel level is close to empty.

Sur certains véhicules, le voyant d'avertissement du faible niveau du carburant pourrait ne pas s'allumer au bon moment pour avertir le conducteur que le niveau de carburant de son véhicule est bas. L'indicateur d'autonomie de l'écran d'affichage multi-information pourrait aussi indiquer qu'il reste une certaine distance à parcourir lorsque le réservoir à carburant est vide. Bien que le voyant d'avertissement du faible niveau du carburant finira éventuellement par s'allumer, et que la jauge à carburant finira éventuellement par afficher « E » (vide), si le conducteur continue à utiliser le véhicule en se fiant à l'indicateur d'autonomie, le véhicule pourrait manquer de carburant, ce qui ferait caler le moteur et augmente les risques d'un accident blessant quelqu'un ou endommageant des biens matériels. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront reprogrammer le logiciel du groupe d'instruments. Note : Jusqu'à ce que le rappel ait été effectué, les conducteurs doivent s'assurer de faire le plein de carburant avant que la jauge à carburant n'indique que le réservoir est presque vide.
