The issue

Issue: On certain vehicles, the passenger occupant detection system (ODS) may malfunction. This could cause the airbag system to turn off the passenger-front airbag even when a passenger is seated. Safety Risk: An airbag that is turned off could increase the risk of injury to a passenger in a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the ODS sensor mat harness. It will be replaced if necessary.

Problème : Sur certains véhicules, le système de détection des passagers (ODS) pourrait ne pas fonctionner correctement. Dans ce cas, le système de coussins gonflables pourrait désactiver le coussin gonflable du passager avant, même si un passager est assis. Risques pour la sécurité : Un coussin gonflable désactivé pourrait augmenter les risques de blessure pour un passager en cas d'accident. Mesures correctives : Le constructeur doit aviser les propriétaires par la poste et leur demander d'amener leur véhicule chez un concessionnaire pour faire inspecter et, au besoin, remplacer le faisceau du tapis-contact de l'ODS.
