The issue
Issue: On certain school buses, the castle nut securing the tie rod may not have been tightened properly and/or the cotter pin may be missing. As a result, the nut could loosen and separate. If this happens, there could be a loss of steering control. Safety Risk: A loss of steering control could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your school bus to a DTNA authorized service facility to inspect and, if necessary, replace the tie rod.

Problème : Sur certains autobus scolaires, l'écrou à créneaux qui fixe la biellette pourrait ne pas avoir été serré adéquatement et/ou la goupille fendue pourrait être manquante. Par conséquent, l'écrou pourrait se desserrer et se détacher. Si cela se produisait, il pourrait y avoir une perte de contrôle de la direction. Risques pour la sécurité : Une perte de contrôle de la direction pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident. Mesures correctives : Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) doit aviser les propriétaires par la poste et leur demander d'amener leur autobus scolaire à un centre de service autorisé de DTNA pour inspecter et, au besoin, remplacer la biellette.
