The issue
On certain trucks, the Cummins 1988NT engines may have been assembled with potentially defective oil cooler gaskets. During high load/high temperature operation, loss of lubricating oil may occur rapidly and may lead to fire from oil being sprayed onto hot exhaust parts. Correction: gaskets will be replaced with improved steel core gaskets.

Sur certains camions, la garniture d'étanchéité du refroidisseur d'huile des moteurs de modèle Cummins NT 1988 peut être défectueuse. Si le moteur fonctionne à haute température ou sous une forte charge, il peut perdre rapidement son huile et un incendie peut résulter de la pulvérisation de celle-ci sur les organes d'échappement très chauds.
