The issue
Note: 1996-99 crown victoria police, fleet and ngv and lincoln town car limousine equipped with a lower control arm ball joint containing a one piece bearing and 1990-96 crown victoria police, fleet and ngv and lincoln town car limousine that were serviced with either a ball joint containing an one piece bearing or a front lower control arm with a one piece bearing. High bearing loads can lead to thinning and eventual cracking of the lower control arm ball joint. This can result in separation of the ball and cap of the joint. Should this occur, the control arm to which the cap is mounted will drop to the ground. Should this occur while the vehicle is moving, reduced steering control could result in a collision. Correction: Lower control arm ball joints will be replaced.

Nota : Vise les véhicules de police, de parcs et au gaz naturel Crown Victoria et les limousines Lincoln Town Car 1996-99 dotés de joints sphériques de bras oscillant transversal inférieur à roulement monopièce, et les véhicules de police, de parcs et au gaz naturel Crown Victoria et les limousines Lincoln Town Car 1990-96 sur lesquels on aurait monté un joint sphérique à roulement monopièce ou un bras oscillant transversal inférieur à roulement monopièce. Des charges élevées sur le roulement peuvent entraîner l’amincissement et, à la longue, la fissuration du joint sphérique du bras oscillant transversal inférieur. Si la rotule venait à se séparer de son logement, le bras oscillant sur lequel le logement est monté pourrait tomber au sol. Si cela se produit alors que le véhicule est en marche, la perte de contrôle de la direction qui s’ensuivrait pourrait provoquer un accident. Correction : Les joints sphériques du bras oscillant transversal inférieur devront être remplacés.
