The issue

Certain vehicle have jacking instructions which, if followed, may cause the operator to place the jack on a frame weld when attempting to raise a rear wheel. If the vehicle is jacked up with the jack placed on the frame weld and if the wheels are not blocked or chocked, then the jack may yield and the vehicle may drop suddenly with the potential for injury to the operator. Correction: Owners will be provided with a revised Jack Instruction and Stowage Card and Jack Warning Label and a supplement to the owner guide. This information moves the jacking location several inches forward of the frame weld and clearly recommends that the diagonally opposite wheel be blocked.

Sur certains véhicules, si on suit les instructions de levage sur cric, l'opérateur risque de placer le cric directement sous une soudure du cadre pour soulever une roue arrière. Si on place le cric à cet endroit et qu'on soulève le véhicule sans bloquer ou caler les roues, il se peut que le cric cède et que le véhicule tombe subitement, ce qui risque de blesser l'opérateur. Correction : On devra fournir aux propriétaires les documents révisés suivants : instructions de levage sur cric, carte de rangement, une étiquette d'avertissement pour le cric, de même qu'un supplément au manuel de l'opérateur. Ces documents devront indiquer de placer le cric un peut plus vers l'avant pour éviter la soudure et devront recommander fortement de bloquer la roue diamétralement opposée.
