The issue

On certain vehicles, the electrical current through the ignition switch is above design capacity. Over time, this excessive current damages the ignition switch and may result in a fire in the vicinity of the steering column ignition switch which could spread to other parts of the vehicle's interior. Correction: Dealers will install a relay kit and, if necessary, replace the ignition switch and steering column tilt lever.

Sur certains véhicules, le courant électrique qui traverse le contact d'allumage est plus élevé que la capacité prévue. À la longue, l'excès de courant peut endommager le contact et provoquer dans la colonne de direction, à proximité du contact d'allumage, un incendie qui peut se propager au reste du véhicule. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront installer un nouveau relais et, s'il y a lieu, remplacer le contact et le levier d'inclinaison de la colonne de direction.
