The issue
On certain vehicles, an interior trim panel does not meet the requirements of CMVSS 221 for fastener spacing. In the event of a severe impact to the body structure, the upper end of the panel may deflect inward, presenting a hazard. Vehicle occupants may be injured should they come in contact with the exposed edge. Correction: Dealers will repair the joint by adding a bracket secured with screws and adhesive.

Sur certains véhicules, un panneau de garnissage intérieur ne satisfait pas aux exigences de la NSVAC 221 en ce qui concerne l'espacement des pièces de fixation. En cas de choc violent sur la carrosserie, le bord supérieur du panneau peut être repoussé vers l'intérieur, ce qui représente un danger pour les occupants. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront réparer le joint en y ajoutant un support fixé à l'aide de vis et d'adhésif.
