The issue

On certain motorcycles, a circuit board within the voltage regulator/rectifier assembly may have been incorrectly soldered during manufacturing process. The improper soldering can cause an internal short which will illuminate the check engine light. If there is a loose battery connection along with the defective regulator, the Power-Train Control Module may inaccurately process the various engine control inputs. This could lead to an engine stall condition which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the voltage regulator/rectifier assembly.

Sur certaines motocyclettes, une carte imprimée dans le redresseur/régulateur de tension pourrait avoir été mal soudée au cours du processus de fabrication. Le soudage inadéquat pourrait produire un court circuit interne qui ferait allumer le voyant Check Engine. S'il y avait un raccord de batterie desserré avec le régulateur défectueux, le module de commande du groupe motopropulseur pourrait traiter de façon imprécise les diverses commandes du moteur. Dans un tel cas, le moteur pourrait caler, ce qui, en conjonction avec les conditions routières et l'état de la circulation, et les réactions du conducteur, pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer le redresseur/régulateur de tension.
