The issue
On certain school buses, the engine software may not react properly to certain aftertreatment device fault codes. The software may unnecessarily shutdown or may fail to shutdown a vehicle with an aftertreatment device over-temp fault. Unexpected shutdown of a vehicle may not allow the driver to completely exit the roadway, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Overheating of the aftertreatment device without engine shut down may result in a fire. Correction: Dealers will update the vehicle engine software.

Sur certains autobus scolaires, le logiciel du moteur pourrait ne pas réagir adéquatement à certains codes de défaillance de dispositif d'aprèstraitement. Le logiciel pourrait arrêter inutilement ou ne pas arrêter un véhicule dont le dispositif d'aprèstraitement surchauffe. L'arrêt inattendu d'un véhicule pourrait ne pas permettre au conducteur de quitter complètement la route, ce qui augmente les risques d'accident. Sinon, la surchauffe du dispositif d'aprèstraitement sans arrêt du moteur pourrait provoquer un incendie. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront mettre à jour le logiciel du moteur du véhicule.
