The issue

On certain trucks equipped with an air release fifth wheel hitch, the inversion valve on the frame may be orientated where contaminants can enter the valve through the exhaust port. As a result, the brake valve may corrode causing it to malfunction and in some cases result in unintended opening of the fifth wheel's locking mechanism. This could allow the trailer to separate from the towing vehicle while underway. Also, an air loss could increase vehicle stopping distance and result in a crash causing property damage or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the inversion valve if required.

Sur certains camions munis d'une sellette d'attelage à relâchement pneumatique, la valve relais d'inversion sur le châssis pourrait être orientée de façon à permettre à des contaminants d'y pénétrer par l'orifice d'échappement. En conséquence, le clapet de frein pourrait se corroder, ce qui ferait en sorte qu'il fonctionnerait mal et, dans certains cas, provoquerait l'ouverture du mécanisme de verrouillage de la sellette d'attelage. Cela pourrait permettre à la remorque de se détacher du véhicule tracteur en chemin. De plus, une perte d'air pourrait augmenter la distance d'arrêt du véhicule et causer un accident, endommager des biens matériels ou blesser quelqu'un. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter et remplacer la valve relais d'inversion si nécessaire.
