The issue

On certain Can-Am Spyder RT, equipped with an SM5 transmission, it may be possible to inadvertently engage reverse gear, while downshifting, without first depressing the reverse button. If this happens while the vehicle is moving forward, the rear wheel could lock and the engine could stall. If this occurs while the vehicle is stopped, a rider, twisting the grip to apply throttle, may find the vehicle going in reverse rather than forward as expected. In conjunction with traffic, road conditions, and the rider's reactions, this could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will validate proper operation of the reverse actuator and, if defective, will replace the reverse actuator assembly.

Sur certains Can-Am Spyder RT munis d'une boîte de vitesses SM5, il pourrait être possible d'enclencher par inadvertance la marche arrière, en rétrogradant, sans enfoncer d'abord le bouton de marche arrière. Si cela se produisait pendant que le véhicule est en marche avant, la roue arrière pourrait se verrouiller, et le moteur pourrait caler. Si cela se produisait pendant que le véhicule est arrêté, un pilote, en faisant tourner la poignée pour accélérer, pourrait s'apercevoir que son véhicule recule au lieu d'avancer. Conjonctionement à la densité de la circulation, à l'état de la route et aux réactions du pilote, cela pourrait causer un accident, endommager des biens matériels ou blesser quelqu'un. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront vérifier le fonctionnement du dispositif d'actionnement de la marche arrière et, si ce dispositif est défectueux, ils devront le remplacer.
