The issue
On certain vehicles, the nuts which secure the pinion shaft inside the steering gear box may not have received adequate tightening torque during the assembly process. If the steering wheel is repeatedly and strongly turned to the full-lock position, the nuts could loosen, allowing the pinion shaft to become unstable. This could cause a loss of steering power assist when making a left turn, which may result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace both pinion shaft nuts with improved versions.

Sur certains véhicules, les écrous qui fixent l'arbre de pignon à l'intérieur du boîtier de direction pourraient ne pas avoir été serrés adéquatement au cours du montage. Si le volant était tourné vigoureusement et de façon répétée jusqu'à la butée, les écrous pourraient se desserrer, ce qui permettrait à l'arbre de pignon de devenir instable. Cela pourrait causer une perte de l'assistance à la direction lors d'un virage vers la gauche, ce qui pourrait causer un accident, endommager des biens matériels ou blesser quelqu'un. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer les deux écrous de l'arbre de pignon par des écrous d'un modèle amélioré.
