The issue
On certain buses, the stem which joins the outside emergency door handle to the emergency door opening mechanism may potentially corrode. Excessive material loss of the stem due to corrosion could result in the outside handle separating from the door mechanism while trying to open the door from the exterior of the bus. In the event of an emergency, this could delay evacuation of the vehicle and increase the risk of injury to occupants. Correction: Dealers will inspect the stems and either replace or protect them against further corrosion. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2015290.

Dans certains autobus, la tige qui relie la poignée extérieure de la porte de secours au mécanisme d'ouverture de la porte de secours pourrait se corroder. Une perte excessive de matériau de la tige en raison de la corrosion pourrait causer le détachement de la poignée extérieure du mécanisme de la porte lorsqu'on tente d'ouvrir la porte depuis l'extérieur de l'autobus. En cas d'urgence, cela pourrait retarder l'évacuation des occupants du véhicule et augmenter les risques de blessures. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter les tiges et les remplacer ou les protéger contre une corrosion ultérieure. Remarque : Le présent rappel s'ajoute au rappel 2015290.
