The issue
Issue: Certain vehicles may not detect when the driver removes their hands from the steering wheel while using adaptive cruise control with lane centering. If this occurs, the driver may not be alerted by warnings to hold the steering wheel. This system is not designed for hands-free operation. Safety Risk: A driver may not be warned to put their hands back on the steering wheel, which could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for an update of the software for the Power Steering Control Module.

Problème : Il est possible que certains véhicules ne détectent pas que le conducteur a retiré ses mains du volant lorsqu'il utilise le régulateur de vitesse adaptatif avec aide au suivi de voie. Si cela se produit, le conducteur pourrait ne pas recevoir les messages l'avertissant de tenir le volant. Ce système n'est pas conçu pour le fonctionnement « mains libres ». Risque pour la sécurité : Un conducteur pourrait ne pas être averti de remettre les mains sur le volant, ce qui pourrait augmenter le risque d'accident. Mesures correctives : L'entreprise va informer les propriétaires par la poste et leur demander d'apporter leur véhicule chez un concessionnaire Ford ou Lincoln pour faire installer une mise à jour du logiciel du module de commande de la servodirection.
