The issue

Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with an engine stop/start system, a loose battery connection could cause an intermittent loss of power steering assist and/or a loss of engine power. An intermittent loss of power steering assist could result in sudden changes in steering effort. Safety Risk: Sudden changes in steering effort and/or a loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect and clean the battery ground connection.

Problème : Dans certains véhicules dotés d’un système d’arrêt/de démarrage de moteur, une connexion de batterie mal fixée pourrait entraîner une perte intermittente d’alimentation de la direction assistée et/ou de puissance du moteur. Une perte intermittente d’alimentation de la direction assistée pourrait forcer le conducteur à apporter des changements soudains à ses efforts de conduite. Risque pour la sécurité : Des changements soudains d’efforts de conduite et/ou de puissance du moteur pourraient accroître les risques de collision. Mesures correctives : L’entreprise doit avertir les propriétaires par courrier et leur demander de se rendre avec leur voiture chez un détaillant, afin que ce dernier inspecte et nettoie la mise à la masse de la batterie.
