Service bulletins

What Mazda told its dealers about the 2024 Mazda CX-90: known faults, fixes and updates.

BulletinSummary
11011141Some customers may report concerns with interior upholstery surface stains particularly on high contact areas (e.g.: seats, steering wheel, door panels, shifter...etc.). This may be caused by skin oils or chemicals such as hand lotions.
11011140When the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) replacement is necessary due to a failure, use MDARS to activate the new TCU after replacement. Use the information in this service alert to initialize the new TCU until the procedure on MGSS is updated.
11011138Some customers may complain about any of the following: 1. Infotainment Center Display does not provide the Authorization Code (OTP) during the MyMazda App Connected Vehicle enrollment. 2. Remote function(s) inoperative. Engine Start / Stop Door Lock / Unlock Lights ON / OFF Climate Control 3. MAZDA CONNECT connected vehicle reception strength icon shows "X" or "\".
11011135Some customers may experience the audio sound pausing when the engine restarts after i-stop operation under the following situations. The symptoms are caused by an improper part installation in the audio amplifier. A voltage drop error detection of the power source may be too sensitive.
11010995The CX-70 and CX-90 have new and revised features that are different from previous models and may be difficult to understand. This Service Alert provides valuable information to support potential dealer and customer concerns.
11010993Some vehicles may exhibit misalignment (in any direction) between the rear end of the front door glass run-channel (1) and the front end of the rear door glass run-channel (2).
11010989Some customers may complain that the heater does not work properly and that a warning about a hybrid abnormality appears on the Instrument Cluster. Upon inspection, the vehicle may have DTC P0AA6:00 (High voltage insulation malfunction: Decrease in vehicle insulation resistance) stored in memory. This may be caused by an internal meltdown of the water heater. To eliminate this concern, the water heater heat dissipation performance has been enhanced.
11010988Some vehicles may exhibit a loud vibration noise when the electric A/C compressor is operating. Due to processing variation of the counter-balance bushing (a weight to balance eccentric rotation) installed in the electric compressor, some of the bushing strongly interferes with the shaft, resulting in the humming noise. To eliminate this concern, the machining accuracy of the counter-balance bushing has been improved.
11010987Some customers may experience a chatter (metallic knocking) noise from the underbody area when driving on rough roads. This may be caused by the contact between overlapping sections of the exhaust system insulators (Front No.1 and No.2) due to vibration. There is no mass production change planned.
11009657The right-side hood strut features a two-step mechanism for opening and closing. The first step is for general, the second step is for service mode. When you open the hood, after completing the hood in service mode, the stay damper might rattle because it loses internal pressure support to the hoodfender- strut system. This is normal operation and not a sign of any malfunction, no parts should be replaced.
11009656This Parts Flash replaces Parts Flash 24-01R1 dated September 19, 2024. Due to a manufacturing change, the CX-70 and CX-90 transmission has undergone a transmission part design change when replacing the transmission assembly. The new/superseded design can be used in place of the old/original design as the coolant hose (D-Code 21-5LX) is no longer needed to be used. Transmission part numbers beginning with supersession level A have had this change.
11009655This service information provides testing and charging procedures in order to promote proper battery maintenance, to deliver new vehicles with fully charged batteries, and to reduce unnecessary battery replacement cost. For new vehicles in stock at the dealer, inspect and maintain the batteries periodically according to the repair procedure.
11009652Some vehicles may experience a transmission warning light on or flashing in the instrument cluster with no DTCs after a full transmission replacement. This will affect the configuration or learning with MDARS.
11009650This Service Alert provides information for the following symptoms. Although Battery State of Charge (SOC) is full, Maximum Driving Distance Display shows 1 mile (1 km). Although Battery SOC is full, the vehicle cannot drive using EV mode (using electric motor power only) and will use HEV mode (using both electric power and a gas engine. This is caused by low ambient temperature and low battery temperature. EV mode is suspended until the battery warms up to protect it from degradation and the gas engine will power the vehicle. This is normal operation. If the battery pack is able to warm up,
11009648Some customers may experience a grunt or grind noise when the transmission shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear. The grunt-type noise is produced during the 2nd gear engagement. This issue will not affect the driveability or reliability of the vehicle. The vehicle is safe to drive. It is OK to release the vehicle back to the customer.
11009646Some vehicles may exhibit poor hands-free liftgate operation after a Mazda genuine trailer tow hitch accessory installation. IMPORTANT: When a Mazda genuine trailer tow hitch is installed on a CX-90 equipped with hands-free liftgate function, the sensing area is reduced due to the mechanical structure of the hitch. The hands-free liftgates optimal sensing area below the rear bumper is shown in green boxes in the image below. Since the left side of the hitch has a 7-pin connector socket, the right side is the most ideal for hands-free operation. For safety, be extra careful performing the kicki
11009645Some customer may experience any of the following: Multiple Warning Lights On Infotainment center display blank Engine no start unless the key transmitter is placed near the start button Interior lights do not illuminate DTC P2507:00 - PCM, PCM POWER SYSTEM: (LOW INPUT) stored. DTC U0156:00 - PCM, CAN communication system, Communication error with CMU (Connectivity Master Unit). This may be caused by Fuse F1 not fully seated (poor terminal tension) or a poor ground connection at the front harness connector G03.
11009644Some vehicles exhibit brake related concerns such as brake noise, brake judder or brake dragging. If you encounter a customer complaint for any one of these symptoms, refer to the following information to understand why symptoms may occur, and to better assist the customer in resolving their specific brake concern.
11009642Due to a manufacturing change, the CX-70/CX-90 transmission has undergone a transmission part design change when replacing the transmission assembly. Old design originally required a coolant line running to the top of the bell housing, the new design has omitted the hole and need for the coolant line. The new/superseded design can be used in place of the old/original design and the coolant hose is no longer needed to be used.
11009640Mazda Connect Infotainment System. Some vehicles may experience the symptoms mentioned below, which can be fixed with the latest software update (Version 7000C0A-NA11_10014). NOTE: If current version is not 7000C0A-NA11_*****, this TSB is not applicable. NOTE: iPod, iPhone, and Apple CarPlayTM are registered trademarks of Apple Inc. 11009639Some vehicles may experience stains appearing on the hood, roof and/or trunk of the vehicle. This concern is most likely to be found in a cold weather areas just after the RAPGARD is removed at PDI. This may be caused by moisture which has been trapped and condensed between the paint and the RAPGARD. These types of stains can be removed with a heat gun or an infrared drier. If you encounter this concern during PDI, use a heat gun or an infrared drier to apply heat to the affected area to remove the stain(s).
11009638Some vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the rear end of the rear glass panel on the panorama sunroof. This may be caused by body vibration while driving and slight gaps (1) between the fastener mounting to the headliner and the sunroof frame. To eliminate this concern, the fastener has been modified to restrain the rattling. NOTE: For 2024 CX-90 with a rattle noise in the center of the sunroof (the front glass panel), see TSB 09-010/24 - RATTLE NOISE FROM CENTER OF PANORAMA SUNROOF.
11009633Some vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the panorama sunroof. This may be caused by: Body vibration while driving and/or outside-temperature changes creating slight gaps between the plastic grommets and the roof reinforcement cover during use. A slight gap between the drip rail and the roof reinforcement, causing interference. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the panorama sunroof unit will be modified. NOTE: If the rattle noise is from rear end of the sunroof (the rear glass panel), refer to TSB 09-045/24 - RATTLE NOISE FROM REAR END OF PANORAMA SUNROOF WHILE DRIVING. This TSB i
11009632Some vehicles may exhibit different air temperature coming from the center ventilation grille on the left and right. This is caused by the mixing control of hot and cold air not being correct. To eliminate this concern, the air control unit has been modified to improve the air mixing control by adjusting the vent door's opening angle.
11009631Some customers may complain about a delayed response during re-acceleration after deceleration. The delayed response during idle restart after i-stop, just before the vehicle stops, may cause this symptom. To eliminate this concern, the control software of the TCM has been modified.
