The issue

On certain vehicles, the starter ring gear which is attached to the clutch assembly with three mounting screws may become separated. This failure could be caused by a fracture of the starter ring gear itself due to incorrect positioning of the mounting holes or; by the failure of the mounting screws. If either of these conditions occur, fragments of the starter ring gear may be thrown from the clutch area. If these fragments came into contact with the vehicle's tire, a puncture could occur resulting in the possible loss of vehicle control and a crash without prior warning to the driver. Correction: Dealer will replace the starter ring gear and/or mounting screws.

Sur certains véhicules, la couronne dentée qui est attachée au bloc d'embrayage à l'aide de trois vis de montage pourrait se détacher. Ce problème pourrait être causé par une fracture de la couronne dentée provoquée par un positionnement incorrect des trous de montage ou par le bris des vis de montage. Si l'un ou l'autre de ces bris se produisait, des fragments de la couronne dentée pourraient être projetés de la zone de l'embrayage. Si ces fragments touchaient aux pneus du véhicule, cela pourrait causer une crevaison et perte de contrôle du véhicule suivie d'un accident, sans que le conducteur ne s'y attende. Correction : Le concessionnaire devra remplacer la couronne dentée et/ou les vis de montage.
