The issue

Issue: On certain vehicles, the steering wheel hands-on detection system may not detect when the driver removes their hands from the steering wheel. If the driver has an emergency and is unable to drive, the emergency stopping assistant system would not activate. Safety Risk: An emergency stopping assistant system that doesn't work in an emergency situation could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the steering wheel ground connection and, if necessary, tighten it.

Problème : Sur certains véhicules, le système de détection des mains sur le volant pourrait ne pas détecter lorsque le conducteur enlève ses mains du volant. Si le conducteur a une urgence et ne peut pas conduire, le système d'arrêt d'urgence pourrait ne pas s'activer. Risques pour la sécurité : Un système d'arrêt d'urgence qui ne fonctionne pas lors d'une situation d'urgence pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident. Mesures correctives : BMW doit aviser les propriétaires par la poste et leur demander d'amener leur véhicule chez un concessionnaire pour faire inspecter le câble de masse du volant et, au besoin, le faire serrer.
