The issue

On certain LTL9000 vehicles, due to insufficient lubrication the telescoping intermediate steering shaft may bind. If this occurs, normal cab movement can cause the shaft to shorten. This shortening action can cause the splined steering gear end of the lower shaft to disengage from the steering gear resulting in loss of steering and possible vehicle crash.

Sur certains LTL9000, par suite d'un mauvais graissage, le mouvement de la section intermédiaire télescopique de la colonne de direction peut gripper. Si cela se produit, le mouvement normal de la cabine peut entraîner le raccourcissement de la colonne. L'extrémité cannelée de la colonne peut alors se détacher du boîtier de direction et entraîner une perte de maîtrise de la direction et une possibilité d'accident.
