The issue

On certain trucks, the crossmember was not formed correctly during manufacturing process. Using results from a stress test, it was estimated that the life expectancy of the suspect crossmember could be less than the design intent. In some applications the crossmember supports the center bearing of the propeller shaft. If this condition were to occur, the structural integrity of the crossmember could be compromised and could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the crossmember.

Sur certains camions, une traverse n'a pas été formée correctement pendant la fabrication. À l'aide de résultats d'un essai de contrainte, on a estimé que la durée de vie de la traverse suspecte pourrait être inférieure à la durée de vie prévue. Dans certaines applications, la traverse soutient le roulement central de l'arbre de transmission. Dans cette éventualité, l'intégrité de la structure de la traverse pourrait être compromise et cela pourrait causer un accident. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter et, le cas échéant, remplacer la traverse.
