The issue

On certain vehicles, corrosion and/or rust may develop on the automatic belt tensioner spindle and/or bushing causing the auto tensioner to become stiff or bind. This can cause the drive belt to suddenly come off, and/or the auto tensioner mounting bolts to suddenly break. If the drive belt comes off, the Alternator Warning Lamp will illuminate. If the warning is ignored, an engine overheat condition and/or loss of vehicle power (engine stall) may occur which potentially could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace tensioner, bolts and belt. Note: This recall supersedes recall 2006130.

Sur certains véhicules, de la corrosion ou de la rouille pourrait apparaître sur la bague ou l'arbre du tendeur de courroie automatique, ce qui ferait en sorte que le tendeur automatique deviendrait raide. Cela pourrait faire en sorte que la courroie d'entraînement sorte soudainement de son sillon ou que les boulons de montage du tendeur automatique se brisent soudainement. Si la courroie d'entraînement sortait de son sillon, le voyant de l'alternateur s'allumerait. Si on ignorait cet avertissement, le moteur pourrait surchauffer ou caler, ce qui pourrait causer un accident. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer le tendeur, les boulons et la courroie. Nota: Le présent rappel remplace le rappel 2006130.
