The issue

On certain vehicles, the cap nut that retains the interaxle driveshaft yoke to the rear axle input shaft may prematurely loosen. If the nut were to loosen and come off, the yoke could separate from the axle input shaft and cause the drive shaft to disconnect. A disconnected drive shaft would result in a loss of motive power, and create a road hazard, both of which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the torque on the cap nut, and the nut will be replaced if the torque is found under specification. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2016-079.

Dans certains véhicules, l'écrou borgne qui retient la fourche de l'arbre de transmission interponts sur l'arbre d'entrée de l'essieu arrière pourrait se desserrer prématurément. Si l'écrou se desserre et tombe, la fourche pourrait se séparer de l'arbre d'entrée de l'essieu, ce qui causerait le détachement de l'arbre de transmission. Si l'arbre de transmission se détache, cela provoquera une perte de puissance motrice et présentera un danger routier. Ces deux problèmes pourraient augmenter les risques d'accident pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Mesure corrective : Les concessionnaires devront vérifier le serrage de l'écrou borgne, ainsi que remplacer cet écrou si son serrage ne respecte pas les spécifications. Remarque : Le présent rappel s'ajoute au rappel 2016-079.
